RackSafe are aligned with SEMA (Storage Equipment Manufacturers’ Association) guidelines, which use a traffic light risk classification system for racking inspections:
🔴 Red Risk (Serious Damage – Immediate Action Required)
Items that are critically damaged and unsafe to use.
Action:
The affected area must be immediately offloaded and isolated. Repairs or replacements are required before the racking is put back into service.
🟠 Amber Risk (Hazardous Damage – Action Required)
Damage that is not immediately dangerous but could become so if left unattended.
Action:
Repairs should be carried out as soon as possible. If not rectified within a specified timeframe (typically 4 weeks), the risk level should be escalated.
🟢 Green Risk (Minor Damage – Monitor)
Why do I need a racking inspection?
Damaged pallet racking poses serious risks. Our rack inspections follow SEMA and HSE guidance to prevent accidents, injuries, and costly downtime. SEMA Advises that all racking should have:
Inspections every 12 months by a SEMA Approved Racking Inspector (SARI)
Internal monthly checks supported with staff training
Immediate reporting in the event of a collision
